Not sure what I’d do without my writing shed to escape to and it’s always fun to see other people’s creative sanctuaries. When my friend Judith Drew Shubert, the force behind Periwinkle Studio, invited me to see her space I knew it would be great, since she designs some of the most beautiful textiles, (some of which grace my writing shed) but I wasn’t prepared for how inspiring her workshop is.

The first thing that strikes you when you enter Judith’s workspace, a former cottage in an artist’s area in Oak Bluffs on Martha’s Vineyard, is the calm feeling there. The sunlight pours through the front plate glass windows and her projects in progress cover the walls.

You never know what will inspire you. Judith spends a lot of time painting outside and is so connected to and inspired by simple nature, like barnacles on a wood plank.

I left Periwinkle Studio energized, so inspired by her artistic home. Do you have a special space where you write or paint or create? I’d love to hear about it!

You can find more of Judith’s work here: www.judithdrewschubert.com or find her at: Periwinkle Studio, 92 Dukes County Avenue in the Oak Bluffs Arts District, is open by appointment. 508-696-8304.
