Wallis Simpson, one of my favorite Lilac Girls characters

I’m not crazy about using well-known public figures in novels, but since Caroline Ferriday and Wallis Simpson knew each other I had to include her, especially since an important scene revolves around a true incident with Wallis. Have to say it was fun bringing her to life–such an interesting person.

  1. Totally enjoyed your presentation in Dallas on Monday. You talked about how Ravensbruck changed you. Have you read “The Hiding Place” by Corrie Ten Boom? She was also a prisoner at Ravensbruck. Some of the many things that book taught me to appreciate were hot water, soap, clean sheets and towels, etc. How much I take for granted!
Looking forward to your next book.
