It isn’t every day you thumb through a magazine at the checkout stand and see your novel in those pages. Especially a magazine like ELLE. With amazing, gorgeous Beyonce on the cover. But there it was, in ELLE’S “Lettres 2016 Readers Prize” for May.
They capture the book so well and say nice things, too. Cinematic? Epic? AND I get to rub elbows with Ellen Feldman’s wonderful Terrible Virtue and Fall of Poppies, a wonderful anthology, which features one of my favorite writers Beatriz Williams.
I’ve always loved ELLE so much, but somehow this May issue is my favorite so far.
How exciting! Elle as usual has their finger on the pulse- no wonder they recognized your stunning novel as one of their top picks this month, Lilac Girls is on everyone’s radar these days! Wow! I am loving Lilac Girls, and can hardly put it down, but I am taking my time with it because I don’t want it to end. Congratulations on all the accolades you are receiving-so well deserved. I am telling anyone who will listen that this is a must read! I see that you are going to be in the Chicago area in May. My book club is meeting on May 10th to discuss my book choice, Lilac Girls. which I have now read, and was so very impressed with. Kudos for such a winning first novel! One of our members has expressed some curiosity about the dust cover depicting the three women walking arm-in-arm. What characters might they represent, and in what period of time and location?
