I happened to be in Hyannis, Mass. last week and stumbled upon Tim’s Used Books. It’s a treasure trove of gently used books of all kinds, sorted by literary category. So glad I stopped in, since I found some wonderful books, and one in particular was a real find.
One book I bought, Shakespeare on the American Stage, held an incredible amount of great info on Julia Marlowe and EH Sothern, two of my favorite Lilac Girls characters. It hasn’t been easy finding information on this couple, two of America’s best stage actors, but the book has a whole chapter on Sothern and Marlowe and some photos I’d never seen (below) including the lovely color portrait of Julia. Guess you never know what’s waiting for you at Tim’s.
