Looks like I was late for something today–a great exhibit at The New York Historical Society: “Facades,” featuring photographs from the wonderful Bill Cunningham book of the same name, published in 1978. The exhibit closed in June.

Bill Cunningham in action
According to the museum, “The images are a whimsical photo essay in which Cunningham posed models in period costumes against famous New York City historic sites of the same vintage. Cunningham, long before his images of street fashion became a regular newspaper feature, spent eight years, from 1968 to 1976, working on the photo essay.”

I may be a few months late, but at least we still get to enjoy the images the fabulous Bill Cunningham gave us.
