What an Incredible Night. The Lilac Girls Launch Party at The Corner Bookstore, NYC.

It was one of those nights a writer doesn’t dare dream about, at least not this writer. When everyone near and dear gathers to give your first novel a send off. And it didn’t disappoint. For starters, as I was posing for a pic with the lilacs I brought, in front of the gorgeous windowfull of books, my little sister Polly Simpkins came out to surprise me, all the way from Martha’s Vineyard. It was heaven to see her and the night just got better from there.

So thankful to all those who came by to pack The Corner Bookstore. Team Lilac from Random House. My incredible family, fabulous old friends and lots of people I didn’t know. The Q&A was so much fun. It’s been over ten years working on this book and it’s a dream to finally TALK about it with such a curious, supportive group who asked phenomenal questions.

And thank you, Corner Bookstore. What a perfect, charming place to launch a book.
