As I get ready to see my first book, Lilac Girls, in print it’s fun to see what’s ahead. At least we’re halfway there…almost to green!

Congratulations on making it to the yellow! I am reading your book now, only about 8 chapters to go until the end of the book! I had to slow down, because really I don’t want it to end. I’ve been so curious about the story of the “rabbits” of Ravensbruck that I started to do a little googling, which brought me to your website. I had heard about your book a few months ago on an email featuring some books to look forward to arriving in 2016. I immediately put it in my wish list, knowing I would purchase it when it was available. I have always been fascinated by WWII, and most particularly by Halocaust survivors and their stories. Victor Frankl wrote one of my favorite books titled Man’s Search for Meaning. His account of how people could survive such terrible cruelty is very moving. Anyway, I wanted to thank you so much for writing about this story, one that I have never come across before in all of the other reading that I have done about World War II. Finding photographs of these women and seeing that they truly existed and that this really did happen has been a most poignant experience. This book began interesting, but has grown more and more enthralling as the pages have turned. Thank you!
